Why Register on the Padron (Civil Register)?

Everyone who lives in Javea should register on the Padron. The "Certificado de Empadronamiento" is required for: the Health System; Claiming Residents 10 year allowance for Inheritance, Changing address at the Social Security office, Changing Car Papers; Tax office etc. The number of people on the Padron determines the size and scope of the local Services: Health, Fire Service, Post Office, Police etc.

For everyone registered on the Padron Central Government pays the Town 206 Euros.

You can register on both the Padron and the Censo Electoral at the same time. You will need to take your Passport + your last Rates receipt (I.B.I.) or Water/Electric bill in your name or your Escritura or rental contract: to the Oficina de Estadistica in the Town Planning Office.
