Comments on the urban devlopment of Javea

April 2009 Bulletin - Abusos urbanisticos No!

Which leads onto some good news, well in a way, that the European parliament by a substantial majority have voted a major censure against Spain, for abusing individual property rights; giving the government a period of time to address this issue and redress the many outstanding consequences or face huge financial penalties through their annual cohesion funds (grants?). Watch this space.

Charles Svoboda and his associates are to be highly complimented on their determined and tireless efforts pursuing these outrageous injustices through to a just solution. Quite how the thousands of complaints will be resolved I have no idea but you can follow the developments by referring to the AUN web site wherein these matters are addressed in depth.

 Abusos Urbanistico NO

A substantial municipal windfall.

I don't know if the arrival of the PP group into the current administration is responsible but 6 million euros worth of grants is to be made available to the town. Councillor Doris Courcelles warns me against expecting too much too soon with these declarations with a but we don't know when or even if they will happen. However the division of this money in outline terms has already been made as follows:-

2 million for connecting the sewage system through to the sewage treatment plant.

2 million for  Arenal, in particular the promenade.2 million for asphalting roads outside the town in particular urbanisations such as Tosalet.

However long overdue this is very welcome news. The updating of the sewage infrastructure has to be initiated under European law by next year.

Indeed less than a month has passed before 1.5 million euros of this money is now redirected towards building a new municipal library in the port (Aduanas) area. No further mention is made of connecting the sewage waste system.

The renovation of the fortress church in the old town continues to be deferred. Half the funds contributed by the Bank Caja Madrid have been available for several years. The other half from Valencia has not yet been granted. This project alone amounts to some 2.7 million euros.

A vast reservoir of natural gas has been found off the Oliva coast. There are plans to bring this ashore and pipe it into all the local municipalities.
